to add mailerlite javascript exit pop you need to add the code before the last <head> code.

We need to trick the page to handle the head code, by wrapping the code with <head>

Then I saved, and repeated with a Ctrl + Shift + R to refresh the page and ignore stored cache.

And then opened an incognito browser, viewed the page & exit pop displays, like this:
